The weekly Sabbath is not a burden; it’s a blessing and an invitation to be intentional about entering into the presence of Yahweh.

Our Messiah said it himself:

“My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matt. 11:30

Easy like Saturday morning.

“But, wait … I thought the Sabbath was on Sunday.”

It’s a commonly held belief … after all, it is the day that most churches hold their weekly gatherings.

The Bible states that God rested on the seventh day, and we too are to rest on the seventh day of each week. Most people, Christian or not, would agree that Sunday is the first day of the week, which would make Saturday the seventh. Also, the word for Saturday in many languages derives from the Hebrew word for Sabbath – “Shabbat”.

Still, there is much debate as to whether Saturday is the true Sabbath or if some rebellious men with an evil agenda came along and changed it to Sunday. It would take an entire series of posts to lay out all the evidence, and history was never my strongest subject.
