I used to struggle with jealousy a lot more than I do now, but I still have my weak moments.
Like when I see a picture on social media of a fellow marketer driving his dream car off the lot after having massive success in his business. In my head, I think, “wouldn’t that would be nice…” while quietly judging them for spending the money in such a “selfish” way.
As if I wouldn’t turn around and do the same thing if it were me…
I’d like to think I wouldn’t, but I’m only human after all. And the fact that I’m responding with such envy in the first place only serves to reveal my true nature.
Yep. I’m pretty sure I’d do the exact. same. thing. (I’m not really into cars though, so for me, it would probably be a new pair of designer jeans, a nice dinner at a 5-star restaurant, or a trip to Tahiti with my husband.)
Jealousy leads to covetousness, and I know firsthand how destructive it can be…
Father, forgive me. The grass appears a little greener over there from time to time, and I often forget about the enormous blessings I have on this side of the pasture. Thank you for revealing this sin in my heart and giving me the opportunity to repent—to turn back to You, to love my neighbor (and celebrate their blessings!), and to walk the narrow path …
